Definition

⌊⋅⌋,floor⁡:R→Z\lfloor \cdot \rfloor, \floor: \R\to \Z mit
⌊x⌋=floor⁡(x)=max⁡{k∈Z∣k≤x}\lfloor x \rfloor=\floor(x)= \max \{k\in\Z \mid k\leq x\}

Beispiele

  • ⌊2,3⌋=2 \lfloor 2,3 \rfloor = 2
  • ⌊−2,3⌋=−3 \lfloor -2,3 \rfloor = -3
Das Ergebnis ist nicht −2-2, da −2>−2,3-2>-2,3.
  • ⌊2⌋=2 \lfloor 2 \rfloor = 2 und ⌊−2⌋=−2 \lfloor -2 \rfloor = -2

Satz C7MC (Eigenschaften der Abrundungsfunktion)

Seien x,y∈Rx,y\in\R und k∈Zk\in\Z, dann gilt:
  1. ⌊x⌋≤x<⌊x⌋+1\lfloor x \rfloor \le x < \lfloor x \rfloor+1 und ⌊x⌋=x\lfloor x \rfloor = x genau dann, wenn x∈Zx\in\Z,
  2. ⌊⌊x⌋⌋=⌊x⌋\lfloor \lfloor x \rfloor \rfloor = \lfloor x \rfloor (Idempotenz)
  3. ⌊x+k⌋=⌊x⌋+k\lfloor x+k \rfloor = \lfloor x \rfloor + k
  4. ⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋≤⌊x+y⌋≤⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋+1\lfloor x \rfloor + \lfloor y \rfloor \le \lfloor x+y \rfloor \le \lfloor x \rfloor + \lfloor y \rfloor + 1

Beweis

iii) ⌊x+k⌋\lfloor x+k \rfloor =max⁡{i∈Z∣i≤x+k}=\max \{i\in\Z \mid i\leq x+k\} =max⁡{i∈Z∣i≤x}+k=\max \{i\in\Z \mid i\leq x\} +k =⌊x⌋+k= \lfloor x \rfloor + k.
i) ⌊x⌋≤x\lfloor x \rfloor \le x , klar nach Definition. Angenommen: ⌊x⌋+1≤x \lfloor x \rfloor+1\le x, nach Definition gilt dann wegen ⌊x⌋+1∈Z \lfloor x \rfloor+1\in\Z: ⌊x⌋+1≤⌊x⌋ \lfloor x \rfloor+1\le \lfloor x \rfloor. Widerspruch. ⌊x⌋=x\lfloor x \rfloor = x folgt aus iii) mit x=0x=0. ii) ⌊x⌋∈Z\lfloor x \rfloor \in\Z, also nach i) ⌊⌊x⌋⌋=⌊x⌋\lfloor \lfloor x \rfloor \rfloor = \lfloor x \rfloor. iv) Aus ⌊x⌋≤x\lfloor x \rfloor \le x und ⌊y⌋≤y\lfloor y \rfloor \le y folgt ⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋≤x+y\lfloor x \rfloor+\lfloor y \rfloor\le x+y und damit ⌊⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋⌋≤⌊x+y⌋\lfloor\lfloor x \rfloor+\lfloor y \rfloor \rfloor\le \lfloor x+y \rfloor, also ⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋≤⌊x+y⌋\lfloor x \rfloor + \lfloor y \rfloor \le \lfloor x+y \rfloor, da ⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋∈Z\lfloor x \rfloor + \lfloor y \rfloor\in\Z. Nach i) können wir x=⌊x⌋+rx=\lfloor x \rfloor +r mit 0≤r<10\le r< 1 und y=⌊y⌋+sy=\lfloor y \rfloor +s mit 0≤s<10\le s< 1. Es gilt 0≤r+s<20\le r+s<2, also ⌊r+s⌋≤1\lfloor r+s \rfloor\le 1. Damit ergibt sich: ⌊x+y⌋\lfloor x+y \rfloor =⌊⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋+r+s⌋=\lfloor \lfloor x \rfloor + \lfloor y\rfloor +r +s\rfloor =⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋+⌊r+s⌋= \lfloor x \rfloor + \lfloor y\rfloor + \lfloor r+s \rfloor ≤⌊x⌋+⌊y⌋+1\le\lfloor x \rfloor + \lfloor y\rfloor+1. □\qed

Gewöhnliche Rundung

Die gewöhnliche Rundung round⁡\round kann man auf die Abrundungsfunktion zurückgeführen. Es gilt:
round⁡(x)=⌊(x+0,5)⌋\round(x)= \lfloor(x + 0,5) \rfloor .

Satz (Weitere Eigenschaften der Abrundungsfunktion)

Sei k∈Zk\in\Z eine ganze Zahl und m,n∈Nm,n\in \N natürliche Zahlen. Dann gilt:
⌊kn⌋≥k−n+1n\brFloor{ \dfrac{k}{n}} \ge \dfrac{k-n+1}{n}.
Sind mm und nn teilerfremd, so gilt:
∑j=1n−1⌊jmn⌋=(m−1)(n−1)2\sum\limits_{j=1}^{n-1} \brFloor {\dfrac{jm}{n}} = \dfrac{(m-1)(n-1)}{2}.

Es gibt jedoch noch einen anderen Grund für die hohe Wertschätzung der Mathematik; sie allein bietet den Naturwissenschaften ein gewisses Maß an Sicherheit, das ohne Mathematik nicht erreichbar wäre.
